5 Best Urban Decay Products (and Dupes)

Urban Decay makes cruelty-free, vegan makeup products that celebrate the unglamorousness and grunge of city life. According to the UD website, “Urban Decay is about finding inspiration in the unexpected, and empowering our fam to unleash their creativity in the most surprising of ways.”

I love Urban Decay products because they are high-quality and long-lasting. The shade names are always excitingly creative. At times, I have been known to choose my UD eyeshadow looks based on the shade name alone. Urban Decay is owned by the same company that owns L’Oreal, whose products I also love (especially their mascaras)!

Without further ado, here are my absolute favorite products from Urban Decay. I hope you’ll like them, too!

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

The UD 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil is one of my favorite lip pencils of all time because it is waterproof and long-wearing. I like to wear it instead of lipstick when I know I will be having a day where my lipstick should not budge. My makeup routine as of late is a bit of eyeliner (applied in a rush with my fingers), mascara, blush, and a quick outlining and filling in of my lips with the UD pencil. Fast and easy!

Urban Decay Lip Pencil Dupe: If you’re strapped for cash, a pretty good dupe are the NYX lip pencils. The NYX lip pencils have the same approximate color range as UD, but not the creamy, almost gel-like consistency. The NYX Pencils do also stay on for a while, though.

2. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eye Pencil

The UD eyeliner pencils come in a variety of hues, from the more “normal” (like a matte black) to more interesting colors, like reds, bright purples, and hot pinks. For a while, I was on the lookout for a red eyeliner (a rarity, though I know Make Up For Ever has one which is a bit pricey) and when I discovered the UD eye pencil in Alkaline, it made my life. I really like the black eyeliner in Perversion (blackest black) because of the drama factor, but I have a variety of different UD eyeliners in many different colors of the rainbow. What can I say…I am a fan.

Urban Decay Eye Pencil Dupe: My favorite drugstore eye pencil is by far the Wet n Wild Megalast Eyeliner in black. It also has the same gel-like consistency as the UD pencils and stays on my waterline for hours (for a fraction of the cost of the UD eye pencils). If you’re looking for a variety of different eye pencil colors, check out LA Girl. If you have slightly more to spend in your makeup budget, but don’t want to shell out for the UD eye pencils, Sephora makes beautiful eye pencils, including jumbo eye pencils, in a rainbow of colors.

3. Urban Decay All-Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Spray

The Urban Decay makeup setting spray is a life-saver for those days when you need your makeup to stay put. All you need to do is to put on your makeup, then lightly spritz this toward your face to seal everything in. Every year, around the holidays, UD makes a jumbo size available. The UD setting spray is pricey, but worth it.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray Dupe: If you are on a budget, a super close dupe is the L’Oreal Infallible setting spray. It makes sense, since L’Oreal owns UD!

4. Urban Decay Grindhouse Pencil Sharpener

Urban Decay sells their own pencil sharpener, and I like to use it to sharpen their eye and lip pencils. It works well, does not do the thing where it starts shedding excess product as it sharpens, and is relatively inexpensive as far as beauty gadgets go.

5. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin

If you’re in a hurry when you’re getting ready in the morning, and you’re worried your eyeshadow may not stay on, you can opt for the UD eyeshadow primer in Sin. It’s a beautiful taupe shimmer and you can wear it by itself or under an UD eyeshadow. There’s also an Eyeshadow Primer Potion in “Minor Sin,” which is just a bit more subtle, and there’s also a non-shimmery, regular version as well as one with antioxidants that reduces the appearance of fine lines.
