If you’re like me, you like a little OOMPH with your mascara. I love mascaras that provide volume and make my natural lashes have a bit more pizazz!
Tubing mascara is one way to achieve that.
Just what is tubing mascara and how does it work? Tubing mascara gets its name from the fact that the mascara contains little polymers that wrap around each individual lash, creating little tubes. Pretty cool! Tubing mascara works well with a primer for even more of a boost (my personal favorite is the L’Oreal Voluminous Primer). Lastly, tubing mascara stays on longer than a regular mascara.
My makeup routine is pretty low-maintenance and low-key these days. I don’t have time or patience for fake lashes or the money for lash extensions. Maybe that will change, but for now, a tubing mascara seems like a good choice.

What are some good, relatively cheap tubing mascaras?
If you’re looking for a tubing mascara that can perform well but won’t break the bank, keep reading for some drugstore mascara recommendations:
Maybelline Sky High Mascara: Maybelline’s mascaras don’t dissapoint, and this one has gotten rave reviews. I’m a fan of the dramatic Colossal Cat Eyes mascara – layered with the L’Oreal primer, it’s perfect. Maybelline has their own Sky High mascara primer, also, and I really want to try it!
Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes Mascara: Essence is known for its inexpensive, yet high-quality makeup products, and especially its mascaras. Their Lash Princess mascara is a YouTube influencer favorite, it seems. Bye Bye Panda Eyes is vegan and cruelty-free, and claims to be “smudge-proof,” so no panda eyes. It’s also washable.
L’Oreal Paris Double Extend Tubing Mascara: L’Oreal‘s known for its great mascaras, so this one seems promising. It has two wands: one for primer, and one for mascara. Fun!
I actually don’t own any tubing mascaras (yet?). I have several waterproof mascaras, even high-end, that often smudge, so maybe trying a tubing mascara would help with that.
